Human remains found in a field east of Calgary in May have been identified and police are hoping someone may have information on the events leading up to the woman’s death.

The remains were located on May 13th by a land owner of a rural property near Range Road 275 and Township Road 232.

The Calgary Medical Examiner says the remains belong to Maria Rosa Ciciolla of Calgary who was reported missing to the Calgary Police Service in November 2006.

Police say Ciciolla was last seen in the city at the corner of 19 Avenue and 44 Street S.E., in July of 2006.

She was 35 when she disappeared and was originally from Montreal, PQ.

Police say she moved to Calgary in 1997 and was known to lead a high-risk lifestyle.

Maria Ciciolla’s family has been notified and the RCMP Serious Crimes Branch and Calgary police are investigating.

Police are asking anyone with information about Ciciolla’s whereabouts or activities leading up to the time of her disappearance or who has information regarding the circumstances of her death to call police immediately or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS (8477).
