Hundreds of bicyclists were in downtown Calgary on Friday morning, all showing their pride for the ninth annual Bike To Work Day in the city.

Enthusiasts and experts were all set up in Eau Claire, offering a pancake breakfast and tune ups for anyone’s bikes.

Organizers say the main goal of the event is to promote cycling as a healthy, convenient, low cost, and socially responsible means of travel.

“It’s great for the environment and, as we found out last week, cycling is more efficient than driving to work, you can escape traffic, you can get past everybody, and you look really cool doing it,” says Ali Macisaac, an organizer of the event.

During the event, volunteers went around counting bikes and with every bike at the event, the founder Lonny Balbi, would be donating one dollar to the Nathan O’Brien Children’s Foundation.
