A Thursday evening incident east of Calgary has claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Gleichen RCMP responded to the Siksika First Nation following reports of a fight at a home.

On arrival, officers located an unconscious teenager on the ground outside of the residence.

A Siksika EMS crew attended to the 16-year-old but the teenager's injuries proved fatal. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

An autopsy into the cause of the boy's death is scheduled for Friday.

RCMP members do not believe the incident was gang-related.
