Fire investigators continue to search for the cause of Sunday’s fire at the Rice For King restaurant in the 9100 block of Macleod Trail Southeast.

Members of the Calgary Fire Department responded to the restaurant at approximately 3:20 a.m. following reports of a dumpster fire.

When crews arrived at the scene they encountered flames, smoke and gas flare-ups as the fire had spread to the building.

The fire was extinguished but the restaurant’s exterior was damaged. The extent of the damage to the interior of the business has not been confirmed.

Firefighters remained at the scene throughout the morning to ensure hot spots did not reignite.

According to the owner, the restaurant will be closed for at least a week for repairs.
