Investigators are on scene looking through the debris of a home in Beddignton that was gutted by fire on Thursday evening.
They are focusing their efforts on the garage where the fire was sparked.
The homeowners, two of which were out of town at the time for the blaze, are also at the scene, sifting through what's left of their belongings.
The fire originally broke out in the garage of the home at about 4:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Bedford Dr. N.E. but quickly spread to the house.
A second alarm was called soon after crews arrived.
Crews eventually got the upperhand and did all they could to prevent the fire from spreading further.
The firefighters were inside searching for any occupants when the roof suddenly collapsed on them.
Both were taken to the Foothills Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
They have since been given clean bills of health and released from hospital.
Battalion Chief Larry Fisher says that no one else was injured in the fire. “The adjacent houses on both sides were covered. We had those protected by fire service.”
A neighbour says that the lone occupant of the house, a man in his 20s, got out of the house safely.
