Police are continuing to look for leads after a woman was kidnapped outside a southeast Calgary bar last month and sexually assaulted over a period of six hours.

On Sunday, September 27, a woman was leaving the Tropicana bar on 35 Street S.E. when she was attacked by a man and pulled into an SUV.

The victim was then driven to a home on the east side of Calgary where she was sexually assaulted by three men, escaping early the following morning.

Staff Sergeant Bev Voros with the CPS Sex Crimes Unit says they are particularly concerned about this incident because it was a random attack.

"She didn't recognize the men. She saw them in the bar earlier but they had very minimal contact with each other. She did not know her offenders. Is there potential of this happening again? At this point, we have no other reports of this occurring. If there are other reports, please let the police know and we would like to have that information as well."

Voros said they are working with the victim, who has been severely traumatized as a result of the attack. "She has been through a very traumatic event. We have been working with her, we have some resources in place and family in place to help her out, but she's having a hard time."

Police say the attackers are three men between the ages of 25 and 50. They add that they may have been speaking Spanish.

Investigators say they are looking at surveillance video from the bar, but are looking for more information from people were there when the incident took place.

"The bar staff and the owners are being very cooperative with us and giving us video," Voros said.

She says the incident did take place around 2 a.m., which is closing time at the bar. "She was there with a group of friends. There was a friend who saw it happen but couldn't do much to prevent it at that time. We have had a few friends come forward and have given us disclosure into what happened. We are looking for anyone else who was in the vicinity to come forward and let us know what they know. The more information we have about that night, the better off we are."

Police are asking anyone that was outside the Tropicana at the time of the incident, who may have witnessed anything, or who may have an idea about who the suspects are to contact them immediately.
