Three men from the United States are the most recent travellers to face charges after allegedly attempting to bring undeclared guns into Canada through Southern Alberta.

Officers with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) located firearms during three separate, unrelated attempted border crossings at three separate ports in Alberta during a span of three days.

On Friday July 18, a 60-year-old man from Colorado attempted to enter Canada at the port of Chief Mountain. Officers located and seized an undeclared .357 revolver and two speed loaders (each containing 12 rounds of ammunition). Michael James Littlehorn was released and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in October in connection to two Customs Act charges.

The next day, a 24-year-old Montana resident attempted to enter Alberta at the Coutts border crossing. The man, Clint Corey Not Afraid, was found to be in possession of an undeclared .357 revolver. Not Afraid was arrested and will remain in custody until his scheduled court appearance on July 25.

On Sunday, July 20, border crossing officers at the port of Carway located and seized a loaded .40 calibre pistol during an Ohio residents attempt to enter Canada. 51-year-old Daniel Helton faces two Custom Act charges and two Criminal Code charges in connection to the undeclared firearm. Helton was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court in October.

CBSA officers at Southern Alberta border crossings have seized 16 undeclared firearms this July. In the previous six months, officers seized a total of 17 undeclared firearms.
