A man who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for armed robbery has been arrested by the RCMP.

Tyler Darrel Leeder was arrested by RCMP in Rocky Mountain House following a standoff at an area motel on Wednesday morning.

RCMP K-9 units, an RCMP helicopter and a negotiator were on the scene of Leeder's arrest.

No one was injured in the arrest although the hotel room where he was hiding suffered extensive damage.

Leeder is wanted for armed robbery in Saskatchewan and Manitoba and RCMP believe he was behind the wheel of a truck that rammed a police cruiser near Irricana on Sunday.

The 26 year old has been on the run for nine months and may be travelling with his girlfriend Samantha Bellhumer.

She's been missing from Coaldale since August.

Police confirm that they also apprenhended a 17-year-old female matching Bellhumer's description outside of the room.

Leeder remains in custody in Rocky Mountain House where it's believed he'll be returned to prison on a parole violation and to await further court appearances.

RCMP say Leeder has an extensive rap sheet.  Since 2007, Leeder has been charged with 56 offences ranging from assaults to vehicles thefts.
