The RCMP have charged a 31-year-old Lethbridge man with possession of child porn, mailing such materials, and smuggling prohibited goods.

On February 19, officers with the Canada Border Services Agency discovered a parcel in Calgary with suspicious contents.

Officials with the CBSA aren't saying much about how officers made the discovery, but say that their staff are vigilant and highly skilled at detecting and intercepting all prohibited goods, including child pornography.

The CBSA passed their findings onto the RCMP, which then began a formal investigation.

Just over a month later, on March 27, members of RCMP Integrated Child Exploitation (ICE), the CBSA, and the RCMP Integrated Border Enforcement Team (IBET) arrested and charged Daniel McNeill, 31, of Lethbridge.

He has since been released on the promise to appear on those charges on April 24 in Lethbridge Provincial Court.
