Police have issued a public warning about an Edmonton high risk offender and say he may be in Lethbridge.

Michael Sean Stanley, 48, is currently the subject of a multi-province search and police say he is a high-risk, violent, sexual offender and poses a risk of significant harm to the community.

Investigators say Stanley has a long history of sexual offences against women and children.

Stanley left Edmonton on October 1, 2013 and police say his electronic tracking bracelet was later found on the roof of a Lloydminster business.

He is now wanted for breaching the conditions of his release.

Police say Stanley was in Lethbridge on October 4 and that they have recovered a purple, Chevrolet Blazer that he had been driving from a west side home.

His current whereabouts are unknown and police are advising the public to be cautious if they spot him.

“We’re asking the public to look at Mr. Stanley’s photo, be aware that he may still be in the city and call police immediately if they see him,” said Kristen Harding, LRPS Executive Officer. “Mr. Stanley poses a significant risk to the community and we are advising everyone to be vigilant about their safety, but not to take any vigilante action.”

Stanley is described as:

  • 48-years-old
  • Metis male
  • About 175 cm or 5’9”
  • 86 Kg or 190 lbs.
  • Black hair and brown eyes
