Another candidate has entered the race for the leadership of the federal Liberal party and made the announcement right here in Calgary.
Former Toronto MP Martha Hall Findlay announced her bid for the leadership in the city on Wednesday.
She’s recruited Stephen Carter, the man who managed the campaigns for Naheed Nenshi and Premier Alison Redford, to help with her own campaign.
November 14, marks the official start to the federal Liberal leadership campaign and seven candidates are now vying for the top job.
On Tuesday, interim Liberal leader Bob Rae met with Harvey Locke’s campaign volunteers before heading out and main-streeting with the candidate for Calgary-Centre.
Leader of the Official Opposition Thomas Mulcair was also in Calgary on Tuesday evening visiting with NDP candidate Dan Meades.
He weighed in on some of the issues in Alberta, including his opposition to the Northern Gateway Pipeline, while meeting constituents along the Red Mile on Tuesday night.
"The Northern Gateway Pipeline is a non-starter because it's a pristine eco-system along that Pacific Coast. You're not going to start bringing in super tankers into that coast; the dangers are far too serious. All you have to do is convince yourself of that is to look at, decades later, after the Exxon Valdez. Prince William Sound still resonates."
Mulcair is still in Calgary on Wednesday, campaigning with Meades.
