Hussein Ibrahim, charged with second-degree murder in connection with the August 23, 2014 fatal shooting of 26-year-old Natasha Mohamed Farah, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter on Friday.
Farah, who had recently moved to Calgary from Toronto, was standing outside of a bar near the intersection of 11 Avenue and 1 Street Southwest when she was fatally struck after shots were fired into a crowd. Investigators determined Farah was not the intended target.
Ibrahim received a nine year sentence.
