A man has been arrested after he rammed his truck through the doors of the Calgary Court Centre early Monday morning.

Police say they first observed the man driving in the downtown core at around 3:30 a.m.

They believe the man, who is in his late 20s, deliberately drove his Ford F-150 through the doors of the southern entrance of the building.

Staff Sergeant Rob Van Gastel says the driver would have needed to drive around several safety precautions put in place to prevent such incidents from occurring.

Van Gastel believes the act, committed by someone known to police, was completely deliberate.

He isn't sure what the motive is. "The motive is still unclear. He is currently at the Westwinds Campus to be interviewed. Hopefully we'll know a bit further later on today."

He is in police custody and charges are pending.

His identity has not been released but police say that he was expected in court on Monday, but does have a pending court date.

No one was hurt in the crash and police don’t believe that alcohol played a factor in the incident.
