Police have charged a man in connection to an assault at the Calgary Remand Centre last year that sent another man to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Emergency crews responded to call about an inmate in medical distress at the remand centre at about 6:20 p.m. on August 20, 2012

A 24-year-old man was assaulted and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

He spent several months in hospital and has suffered permanent injuries as a result of the assault.

On Tuesday, police arrested a former cellmate of the victim.

Justin Brett Decoux, 21, of Calgary, is charged with aggravated assault.

Police have issued warrants for a second man who was also a cellmate of the victim.

Kei Hu Mang, 21, is wanted for aggravated assault.

Mang was released from custody since the incident and police say his whereabouts are unknown.

He is described as:

  • Asian
  • 173 cm or 5’8” tall
  • 63 Kg or 138 pounds
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes
