Calgary police have charged a local man in connection with a stabbing on the weekend that sent one man to hospital.

Emergency crews were called out at about 11:30 p.m., on Saturday for reports of an altercation at the Marlborough Park Community Centre.

Police say several people were allegedly attempting to remove an unwanted guest from a private party when one of the men was stabbed.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from hospital.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and was tracked to a nearby residence and arrested.

Jose Omar Flores-Mejia, 47, of Calgary, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
