The man accused of murder in connection with the death of his common law wife remains in police custody on Monday.

Allan Shyback, 38, was arrested and charged last week after police executed a search warrant on the home in Ogden where his wife, Lisa Mitchell, lived.

She disappeared in October of 2012. Police located her remains inside the home on 26A Street S.E. on December 5, 2014.

Shyback and the couple’s two children were living in the home at the time.

Mitchell’s mother, who worked with her daughter at the Twin Cities Hotel in Longview, reported her missing in 2012.

One of their co-workers said that the situation is heartbreaking. “Lisa was here working just a few days before she disappeared. It’s heartbreaking, it’s absolutely heartbreaking. I can’t even imagine.”

A neighbour of the couple in Ogden, Sheila Weston, says she is very shaken up by the discovery. “Me heart goes out to Peggy and the kids. They don’t have parents anymore.”

Police say they had responded to the home prior to Lisa's disappearance following reports of a domestic incident. No charges were laid in connection to the investigation into the event which police referred to as minor.

Investigators were still on scene on Sunday, towing away a black pickup truck.

Shyback is expected to appear before a judge on Tuesday morning.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
