A Calgary man has been killed in a crash just west of Airdrie.

The crash happened between a semi tractor-trailer unit and a car at about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 567, about 1 km west of Symons Valley Road.

Police say it appears that an eastbound car crossed into the westbound lane colliding head on with the truck.

The car burst into flames and the driver was killed instantly. The driver is believed to be a man in his 50s.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

Highway 567 is closed while police investigate.
