A man was sent to hospital in critical condition after he was involved in a serious crash on Highway 2 just south of Airdrie.

At 9:22 p.m. on Sunday, members of the Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit, Airdrie RCMP, Fire and Ambulance, attended the scene of a rollover crash.

Police say a truck was northbound on Highway 2 when the male driver, 49, from Airdrie, lost control, rolling into the ditch on the east side of the road.

The passenger, also a 49-year-old from Airdrie, was not wearing his seatbelt when the crash took place and was ejected from the vehicle.

He was transported to hospital in critical condition while the driver was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Police say that speed, alcohol, and lack of seatbelts all contributed to the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the crash and have not yet spoken with police are asked to contact RCMP at 403-945-7200.
