The former soldier who threatened to attack the Veterans Affairs Canada office in downtown Calgary has apologized.

Glen Gieschen says he didn't have any intention of following through with the threat.

He was found at his parent’s acreage by police asleep inside a utility shed, dressed in camouflage and carrying a loaded .40 calibre semi-automatic weapon.

A search of his vehicle produced more weapons and ammunition.

Gieschen has been on long term military disability since 2011 and was at odds with veterans affairs over health care compensation

He pleaded guilty to several charges and will be sentenced in January.
