Police are looking for suspects in connection with an early morning shooting in southeast Calgary that sent a man to hospital.

At about 2:20 a.m., police were called to a home in the 400 block of Penswood Road S.E. for reports of a shooting.

Police say the man was inside the home when the gunshots rang out.

He was taken to hospital in serious condition, but he is expected to recover.

Authorities say it appears that the incident was targeted. Police believe the shots came from outside the home and they are still working out how many people were there at the time of the shooting.

Police have spoken to witnesses who say that a vehicle sped away from the scene shortly after the shooting took place. Officers managed to pull over the vehicle and took the occupants into custody for questioning.

It is not known at this time if they have anything to do with the incident.

Police are continuing to investigate.
