A Calgary man has pleaded guilty in the death of another man whose remains were found on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation almost two years ago.

Suryan Giama was last seen by family and friends after leaving a southwest area home on February 17, 2014.

Giama’s vehicle was recovered a month later and police determined that he likely met with foul play and was murdered.

In June 2014, human remains were found by a citizen in a rural area west of Calgary and the medical examiner confirmed they were those of the 25-year-old missing Calgarian.

Kevin Douglas Dalton was arrested and charged with manslaughter and indignity to a human body in November 2014.

On Friday, Dalton admitted he was responsible for Giama’s death and he was sentenced to three years in prison.
