The man accused of impaired driving in connection with the death of Travis Meissinger surprised the courtroom by pleading guilty to the charges on Monday morning.
Chris Fitzsimons was at the wheel when he lost control and crashed his vehicle into several parked cars along Dover Ridge Dr. S.E. on January 22, 2011.
Travis Meissinger was a passenger in the vehicle and died at the scene.
Fitzsimons was charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death.
The trial for Fitzsimons was to start on Monday but he surprised the court by entering a guilty plea.
He has been free on bail since the crash.
Meissinger's family is relieved that they will be spared the pain of a trial.
Fitzsimons will be sentenced on May 30, 2013.
