A man shot in the leg in the middle of a northeast Calgary neighbourhood during the dinner hour is recovering in hospital.

Police were called to the 100 block of Martindale Crossing Way at around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday for reports of a gunshot.

They found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

The man was subsequently taken to hospital in non-life threatening condition.

Two men, found a short distance away, were arrested.

One of the men had a handgun.

They remain in custody on Thursday as police continue to investigate.
