Two teams of tired hockey players are taking a well deserved break from the rink following their record setting hockey game at the Chestermere Rec Centre.

Organizers have wrapped up more than ten days of hockey which raised awareness and financial support for several charities including the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation .

The previous record of 246 hours was set by members of the same group back in 2012. Shortly after 4:30 p.m., the players set the new standard.

The 2014 game finished at 6:30 p.m. after 248 hours of continous hockey.

Players in the Hockey Marathon game had hoped to raise $2 million for charity and organizers believe they reached their fundraising goal.
