Lufthansa Airlines confirms Friday’s flight from Munich, Germany to Los Angeles landed in Calgary after a passenger suffered an undisclosed medical emergency.

Flight 452 made an unscheduled in stop at Calgary International Airport on Friday afternoon.

According to Christina Semmel, the Lufthansa Group’s manager of corporate communications for North America, 272 passengers were on the Airbus A340-600 when the flight was redirected.

“The flight is planned to continue to Los Angeles and will arrive there with approximately one hour and 34 minutes delay,” said Semmel in an email to CTV Calgary.

EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux says several ambulances were dispatched to the airport shortly before 2:00 p.m. after being notified that as many as five passengers were ill on the Lufthansa flight.

Paramedics and Health Canada officials boarded the plane and assessed the passengers complaining of illness.

A woman, believed to be in her thirties, was transported by ambulance to the Peter Lougheed Hospital in non-life threatening condition for treatment of 'complaints of a general medical nature'.

Flight 452 departed Calgary shortly after 4:00 p.m.
