The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams have seized 730 marijuana plants, worth just under $1M from an Airdrie grow op in mid-May.

Acting on a tip provided through Crime Stoppers, authorities attended a rural property west of Airdrie where members of ALERT and Airdrie RCMP discovered a grow op inside a Quonset.

The plants found in the operation are worth an estimated $912,500.

Authorities also seized a semi-automatic handgun as well as a cache of ammunition.

Clifford Clayton Favel, 38, was also arrested and charged with:

  • Production of a controlled substance
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order
  • Breach of probation (x 4)

Police say that there were two medicinal marijuana licences connected to the property, but neither one was valid.
