The family and friends of Colton Crowshoe gathered in northeast Calgary on Sunday night to honour the memory of the slain young man.

About 100 people gathered outside the Abbeydale Community Centre on Sunday.

Crowshoe, 18, was reported missing back on July 4. Three weeks later, his body was found in a retaining pond not far from where he lived.

Family members who organized the event say they did so to give people a chance to pay their respects and say goodbye to the young man who always knew how to put a smile on people’s faces.

The family is also pleading the public to come forward with tips that could lead police to Colton’s killer.

The Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the death, but currently have no suspects.
