A Calgary man is facing numerous charges in connection to a fraud operation that targeted elderly Calgarians in the northwest community of Varsity.

Police say they received several reports about a man who was befriending seniors to gain their trust.

They say the man created a false scenario to get his victims to give up their bank cards and corresponding PIN numbers and that fraudulent withdrawals were then allegedly made on the accounts.

Gregory Dokken, 39, of Calgary, is charged with seven counts of fraud and two counts of theft under $5,000.

The CPS Elder Abuse Response Team is monitoring the case and says there could be additional victims.
