Cochrane RCMP are looking for the public's help in tracking down suspects in connection with an assault that took place along the Trans-Canada Highway on Sunday morning.

At about 8:39 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to the underpass of Hermitage Road and Highway 1, where a person had reported seeing two men who had seriously assaulted a third man and left him injured.

The caller had been travelling on Hermitage Road at the time, and had driven to a safe location where they called police.

However, by the time officers arrived on scene, the victim of the assault and the suspects had fled the scene.

They found evidence that the assault took place at the location in question, about 15 km west of the Town of Cochrane, but they were unable to find anything that could identify anyone involved.

Investigators believe the group may have been heading east along Highway 1 and police are looking for a four-door gray sedan believed to be involved.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Cochrane RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
