Calgary police, with help from the CFD Aquatics Team, will be returning to a retention pond in the northeast where the body of Colton Crowshoe was found last year.

At 10 a.m. on Monday, divers will begin to search the pond, at 16 Avenue and Stoney Trail N.E., for more evidence connected to the death of Crowshoe.

The 18-year-old’s body was found in the water on July 24, 2014, after a passerby called 911.

Crowshoe was last seen alive by friends in Abbeydale between 2:30 and 4:00 a.m. on July 4, 2014.

Colin Chisholm with the CPS Homicide Unit says they are back at the scene again to see if there is anything else to find. "We're really looking for the public to come forward and assist us with his investigation."

"This invesigation is continuing. We are taking another look and trying to find anything that will assist us and point us in the right direction."

The young man’s family said on Sunday that the renewed interest in the case is ‘too little, too late’.

“It's been over a year now and now they're going to look at it again and it kind of gets me frustrated, why is this happening, what's going on?” said Jimmy Crowshoe, Colton’s father.

They say they are struggling with putting faith in the justice system because they believe police didn’t take the case seriously at first because of Colton’s history and his race.

"He never did nothing. It's all hearsay," Jimmy Crowshoe told the media on Monday. "Some of its good, some of its bad. I feel bad because I just want the truth. The thing that people don't understand is all I want is the truth."

He says that the situation hurts him every day. It hurts to come up to the area where his son's body was found and it hurts talking to detectives. However, he continues to do it because he wants to know what happened.
