Nearly two weeks after a spree of fires in alleyways and dumpsters erupted in a southwest neighbourhood, the Calgary Fire Department returned to Kingsland to douse a number of blazes which have been deemed suspicious.

On Saturday morning, shortly before 6:00 a.m., fire crews responded to the back lane of the 700 block of Kingsmere Cres. S.W. following reports of a dumpster fire. While firefighters attended to the smouldering contents of the bin, two additional fires were reported within a one block radius, including a burning mattress.

All three fires were successfully extinguished. No injuries have been reported.

Calgary Police Service patrols, including the K9 Unit, searched the neighbourhood for signs of a suspect but their tracking proved unfruitful.

The Arson Unit is investigating the Kingsland fires.

Anyone with information about the fires is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.
