Flags will remain at half-mast on provincial buildings until sunset on the day of Calgary MLA Manmeet Bhullar’s funeral.

Flowers adorn Bhullar’s seat in the legislature as his colleagues prepare to remember him on Wednesday. The session was cancelled on Tuesday and will resume Wednesday with tributes to the 35-year-old who was killed in a crash on the QE2 on Monday afternoon.

Bhullar, a former cabinet minister, was on his way back to Edmonton after speaking at the University of Calgary earlier in the day. He stopped to help a stranded motorist when a semi-tractor trailer unit lost control and struck him.

A funeral date for the Calgary-Greenway MLA has not yet been announced.
