The latest dump of snow has prompted police in Alberta to issue an advisory for motorists to take care as plowing crews work to clear the highways.

Lake Louise RCMP say winter driving conditions are in effect on the Trans-Canada and that plows are working in tandem in many areas to clear the snow.

Police say motorists should not pass plows while this is happening because the plow extensions on the ground are hard to see.

They are asking people to slow down and allow more room for stopping.

The Trans-Canada was closed on Thursday morning between Golden and Revelstoke in both directions because of a crash and motoroists should expect about a 30 minute delay to get through the crash area.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the mountain parks and several parts of central Alberta.

The QEII north of the city is also partially snow covered and visibility is reduced in some areas because of blowing snow.

RCMP say the QEII between Calgary and Edmonton is very slippery and that there have been multiple crashes.

They also say not to travel unless it is necessary and to be sure to pack proper emergency clothing and equipment if you do have to go out.

Highways east and south of the city are in fair condition.
