Calgary police are investigating an early morning armed break-in of an occupied home in a southeast neighbourhood.

According to police, shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Applewood Place Southeast following reports a man had entered a home through a window.

The suspect allegedly made his way to the master bedroom and began pillaging through the contents of the dresser. The noise disturbed a 49-year-old woman from her sleep and she confronted the intruder. The suspect produced a knife and demanded the bracelet off the woman’s wrist.

The suspect fled the home. No injuries have been reported.

Police have not released a description of the suspect.

Anyone with information about the break-and-enter is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.

With the recent warm weather, citizens are more likely to leave windows open through the night. Following Sunday morning’s break-and-enter, Calgary Police Service officials are asking Calgarians to remain vigilant in ensuring their homes are secure.
