Police have recovered about $300,000 worth of stolen property from a home in McKenzie Lake and believe the items were taken from parkade storage units across the city.

Officers responded to a complaint at a home in the 200 block of McKerrell Way S.E. on Thursday, February 5, 2015 and while investigating, found over 600 stolen items inside.

The stolen property was seized and included two firearms and a small amount of drugs. Police say one of the weapons was an assault rifle.

“One of the things that we noticed, the storage lockers store a large amount of property because they’re in condo complexes so from there they can go into 20 storage lockers and with a half an hour come out with 30, 40 items or 50, so they have the ability to collect a large amount of property in a short amount of time,” said CPS Cst. Cathy Caddick.

Officers catalogued the items and located as many owners as possible through police reports, and names or other identifying features on the property.

They are now asking the public for help to find the remaining owners and have put together a list of the property that has not been returned.

“The majority of the property was seized between July of 2014 to February 5th. We do have some items that go back as far as four years ago from break and enters,” said Caddick.

Photos of some of the items can be found HERE and people who are able to identify property can contact the District 8 office directly at 403-428-6800.

Justin Cecil Scott, 30, of Calgary, is charged with seven firearms offences, including contravening the firearms act, possessing an unlicensed weapon, possessing a restricted/prohibited weapon, possessing a weapon with the serial number altered or removed, and various other offences.

Police are trying to locate another suspect in connection to the incident.

Ryan Kori Callahan, 33, of no fixed address, is wanted on warrants in connection to the seizures and various other offences.

Callahan is described as:

  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Slim build
  • Has tattoos of a fish and a tiger on his left forearm, a dragon on his upper left arm, and Buddha on his upper right arm.

“At this point we believe they were working together from our investigation. There could be others involved that we aren’t aware of yet, that we’re still working on, but they were quite diligent in their efforts to steal property,” said Caddick.
