Police have confirmed that a two-month-old baby, injured in a four-vehicle crash on east of Calgary on Friday, has died.

At about 2 p.m. on July 24, emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash on Highway 1 near Garden Road S.E.

When they got there, they found four vehicles involved in the crash, and four people were injured.

A woman in her 30s also died at the scene, and her infant girl was rushed to the Alberta Children's Hospital by EMS.

Officials have now confirmed that the baby has died.

There were two others inside the vehicle with the woman and baby; the father, who has been released from hospital and another family member who is still recovering.

Their identities have not been released.

The others involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.

The crash closed the Trans-Canada Highway for several hours.
