Calgary police are warning the public after a high-risk offender completed his federal prison sentence and returned to society.

On Tuesday, 54-year-old Russell Noskey was released after serving his time behind bars in connection to violent offences committed in Edmonton and Peace River. Noskey vast criminal history includes the following convictions:

  • Manslaughter
  • Dangerous driving/impaired
  • Threats
  • Assault
  • Criminal negligence causing bodily harm
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Sexual assault

The victims of Noskey’s crimes have included family members, strangers, and intimate partners.

Noskey’s activities will be monitored by the Calgary Police Service high risk offender program.

According to CPS officials, the decision to warn Calgarians of Noskey’s release allows the public an opportunity to take precautionary measures to avoid interactions with the former convict.

Noskey is described as:

  • Aboriginal
  • Weighing approximately 78 kg (170 lbs)
  • 173 cm (5’8”) tall
  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Having the letters R & N tattooed on his left hand
  • Having a tattoo of a small cross on his left forearm
