Police are investigating after woman was jogging with her dog early Tuesday morning in Springbank and was reportedly attacked by another large dog.

The woman, in her 50s, was running along Springbank Crescent S.W. at around 6:50 a.m with her dog when the pair was approached by a large breed black dog.

The dog attacked and began to fight with her dog, prompting the woman to act and try to separate the pair of animals.

The woman was bitten on the ankle in the ensuing melee.

She was taken to the Sheldon Chumir in stable condition.

Animal Services are investigating the incident.
