CEOs from five Alberta companies took part in Rescue in the Rockies to raise money for STARS Air Ambulance.

The head honchos boarded helicopters at the Peace Bridge helipad on Friday morning and were dropped off in the wilderness in Kananaskis Country.

While there, they have to perform a number of challenges, and use their cell phones to call friends and colleagues to raise enough money to get back home.

“They are trying to raise $100,000 each to get lifted off the mountain,” said Andrea Robertson, President and CEO, STARS Air Ambulance. :That's a huge goal in this economy, we're just thrilled that we have five community leaders from Edmonton to Calgary that are willing to help us try and raise some funds to keep STARS flying.”

At the end of the day, more than $387,000 was raised, shy of the $500,000 they had hoped for.

Since 2011, this event has pulled in nearly $3.8 million, and every cent of it goes to keeping STARS in the air.
