An early Saturday morning fight on 1 Ave S. escalated when a man, attempting to stop the skirmish, was repeatedly stabbed.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to the 1000 block of 1 Ave S., near a nightclub, following reports of a stabbing.
According to police, a 22-year-old man suffered numerous stab wounds to his upper body while attempting to break up a fight. The nature of the weapon has not been disclosed.
The stabbing victim was transport to Chinook Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries. No other injuries have been reported.
Officers identified and arrested the stabbing suspect.
24-year-old Maulid Mohamed of Lethbridge faces the following charges in connection to the incident:
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon
- Assault causing bodily harm
Mohamed remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
