Courtney Ketchen

Courtney Ketchen joined the CTV Morning Live team in March 2015 as Traffic Anchor after being the Host & News Anchor for a morning show in Winnipeg for four years. Originally from Winnipeg, Courtney moved to Calgary in 2005 to take the Journalism program at Mount Royal University. After school, Courtney’s career took her to Saskatoon, Red Deer, and Thunder Bay before heading home to “Winter-peg!” Now back in beautiful Alberta, Courtney is enjoying the milder winters, mountains, beautiful parks, rivers, and hiking paths!

In her career, Courtney’s community involvement has earned her the St.John Ambulance Excellence in Media award in 2014, and also a Community Hero nomination by the Canadian Mental Health Association in 2015.

When not keeping Calgary updated on road conditions and morning commutes, Courtney can be found at one of the city’s dog parks (favourites include Edworthy Park & River Park!)
Courtney has two Bichons, Kingston & Phoenix (Fifi.) An avid animal lover and passionate about animal rights, Courtney is also the monthly sponsor for Oliver- a rescued farm pig at The Alice Sanctuary. As much as she would love to take him home, Courtney settles for snuggles and kisses while visiting the farm! Courtney can also be found getting her “ommm” on at hot yoga, and running along the river with her little furry friends!

Southern Albertans look to CTV Calgary for excellence in news and entertainment programming and that legacy of news innovation and community involvement continues today as we celebrate over 50 years in broadcasting.

CTV Calgary (CFCN) went on the air for the first time on the evening of September 9, 1960 and was the first independent television station in Canada.

The first broadcast was a 30-minute news program, followed by two movies, bringing then owner H. Gordon Love’s life-long dream to reality.

CFCN became a member of the Canadian Television Network (CTV) on October 1961 and one of the station’s longest running shows, The Buck Shot Show, started in 1967.

As an owned and operated affiliate of the CTV Network, CTV Calgary, created a number of firsts in Canadian television.

  • First to produce a Canadian Football League game from the prairies for CTV
  • Instituting instant replay in Western Canada
  • Brought Crime Stoppers to Calgary
  • Initiated Child Find on television

Canada’s largest telecommunications company, Bell Canada Enterprises, has owned CTV Calgary since 2000.

CTV Calgary’s trusted team of journalists and top-notch news producers, editors and photographers are dedicated to providing the best in local news programming to southern Alberta on-the-air, in the community and online.
