Police are investigating the cause of a crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist from the southern Alberta community of Stettler on Thursday afternoon.

On October 8, at about 1 p.m., emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash on Highway 11, about 1 km south of the intersection with Highway 12.

When they got there, they found the crash was between a motorcycle and semi truck.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 64-year-old man from Stettler, was dead at the scene.

Police say early investigations show that the motorcyclist crossed into the path of the oncoming truck.

The semi driver, 43, was not injured in the crash

Officials say Highway 11 was closed for about two hours while crews investigated the scene.

Police say that speed, traffic, and weather are not being considered factors in the crash, and they are still investigating.

No charges are expected to be laid.
