Calgary Police are looking for the public’s help in tracking down a suspect and a van that was stolen as a result of a carjacking earlier this week.

At about 11 p.m. on December 16, a female shuttle driver for a hotel was flagged down by a man in the 2500 block of 32 Avenue N.E.

The driver believed the man was in need of directions, so she pulled over and rolled down the passenger side window.

The man then reached in, got into the car, and then held a sharp object to her side, telling her to drive.

The suspect forced her to drive him to a convenience store in the 2900 block of Radcliffe Drive S.E., where he then told her to get out and purchase some items for him.

When she left the vehicle, the man drove away in the van, nearly hitting a pedestrian while doing so.

Police have been so far unable to find the van or the suspect.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Between 45 and 50 years old
  • 6’ tall
  • Blond hair
  • Balding
  • Some facial hair
  • Approximately 200 lbs
  • Medium build
  • Well-kept appearance
  • Wearing a light blue jacket with white stripes

Police say the stolen vehicle is a very distinguishable white 2013 Honda Odyssey. The van bears the logos of “Comfort Inn”, “Staybridge Suites”, and “Super 8”, on the sides and back. It has the Alberta licence plate 36M942.
