A Saturday morning rollover, which closed the northbound lanes of Sarcee Trail for nearly an hour, left a driver relatively unscathed but facing the possibility of charges.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., a Ford Focus was travelling northbound on Sarcee Trail S.W., north of the Bow Trail intersection, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, flipping the car.

The 30-year-old driver, the lone occupant of the car, escaped from the wreckage and was assessed by paramedics at the scene. According to police, her injuries were minor.

The northbound lanes of Sarcee Trail were closed during the police investigation into the crash and to allow crews to clear debris. Traffic resumed on Sarcee Trail at 7:20 a.m.

Police continue to investigate the single vehicle collision. Alcohol is believed to have contributed to the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the rollover, or encountered the Ford Focus in the minutes before the crash, is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234.
