Premier Rachel Notley talked about her climate change strategy at a NDP party dinner on Thursday, November 26, 2015.

All 600 seats were sold out for the $250 per person event.

Notley said she hopes the strategy will change the debate about responsible resource development in Alberta.

She said she appreciates the broad support the plan has received from the oil and gas sector and environmental leaders. The plan includes a carbon tax and the phasing out of coal by 2030.

“I think that was always understood, that looking at whether we had an appropriate carbon price was absolutely one of the things that would be part of the climate change strategy,” she said.

The event opened with a moment of silence for Calgary MLA Manmeet Bhullar who was killed in a traffic accident on November 23, 2015. A state memorial service will be held for Bhullar on Sunday, November 29, 2015.
