Calgary police are searching for the driver of an SUV after the vehicle slammed into a home in Temple early Saturday morning.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., Imran Khaliq and his family were asleep inside their home on Temple Drive Northeast when they were startled from their slumber.

‘I heard the horn sound and you know the ceiling stuff came over the bed,” recalls Khaliq. “I was just shocked. We rushed outside the room and then we see someone hit the (house with a) car.”

After ensuring his family was safe, Khaliq called 911 and police responded to the home. The impact of the crash damaged both the building and the GMC Jimmy, but the driver of the SUV was nowhere to be found.

The K-9 Unit conducted a search of the neighbourhood but the suspect was not located.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.
