Friday morning’s police search of a Medicine Hat home resulted in the seizure of drugs and cash and now two men are facing charges related to the investigation.

In the early morning hours of February 12, RCMP and members of the Medicine Hat Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence on Sage Road in the neighbourhood of South Ridge .

During the search, officers located and seized:

  • Fentanyl pills (12)
  • Methamphetamine (10 grams)
  • Cocaine (12 grams)
  • A digital scale
  • $2,270 in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime

Two Medicine Hat residents, 30-year-old Sterling Caines and 43-year-old Wayne Shrubsall, were arrested at the home.

Caines faces charges including:

  • Trafficking cocaine (three counts)
  • Breach of probation
  • Breach of a peace bond

Shrubsall’s charges include:

  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Drug possession (four counts)
  • Possession of proceeds of crime
  • Breach of recognizance (in relation to charges from a 2015 investigation into suspected methamphetamine trafficking)

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) has not released the scheduled court appearances for Caines and Shrubsall.
