Calgary police have seized drugs, cash, weapons and stolen property from a northeast home and two people are facing charges.

Officers from the Drug and Tactical Units executed a search warrant on a home in the 300 block of Taradale Way N.E. on Tuesday, July 28.

Multiple items were seized including;

  • $11,645 in cash
  • 104.6 grams of methamphetamine, estimated value of $10,460
  • 11.1 grams of cocaine, estimated value of $1,200
  • 57 undetermined pills
  • 3 vials of steroids
  • 3 knives
  • 3 replica handguns
  • 7 cell phones
  • A stolen 2011 Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle
  • Scales and packaging material
  • Documents

“We also recovered a stolen 2011 Kawasaki motorcycle in the fourth floor apartment as well and that was stolen out of Okotoks in the beginning of July and that’s been returned to the owner,” said Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta of the CPS Drug Unit.

Gurnazbir Singh Sandhu, 25, of India, is charged with one count each of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of stolen property, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of breach of probation.

Richard Julies Rysdale, 28, of Calgary, is charged with one count each of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of stolen property and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police say they don’t believe the pair is connected to any organized crime groups.

Both men are in custody and will next appear in court on Friday, August 7, 2015.

Police say Sandhu was in Canada on an expired student visa and that the CBSA has issued an exclusion order to remove him from the country pending the outcome of his court date.
