The union that represents prison officers is demanding improved safety measures after two members were hurt in an incident last week at the Calgary Correctional Centre.
The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees says that on Friday, two correctional peace officers were assaulted, with one being struck in the head.
Both officers were taken to hospital for treatment.
An officer at the Edmonton Remand Centre was also hurt in an attack last week.
He is still recovering in hospital.
