Friends, coworkers and family members are mourning the loss of Christopher Pollitt, the 32-year-old who lost his life in a Sunday afternoon crash northeast of Calgary.

According to Paul McDougall, president of PWM Loss Prevention Services, Pollitt was employed by PWM as a mobile field manager and was on duty at the time of the fatal crash at the intersection of Highway 72 and Highway 791.

"Christopher was an experienced professional, a diligent supervisor, a family man, and a true friend," said McDougall in a statement sent to CTV Calgary, "We will miss him dearly and remember him with a tremendous sense of loss."

On Sunday afternoon, the company vehicle Pollitt was driving was involved in a collision with a minivan. Pollitt was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

Prior to his tenure with PWM, Pollitt resigned from the Royal Air Force with an honourable discharge and relocated from the UK to Canada to live with his fiancée.

Pollitt’s career included service with the Royal Air Force Regiment including tours in Kandahar and Kabul, a four year stint as a police constable with the Kent police, security detail during the London 2012 Olympics, and serving as an honour guard for British royalty.

According to McDougall, Pollitt had planned to apply to the Calgary Police Service once he gained permanent residence status.

RCMP members continue to investigate Sunday afternoon's crash.

A memorial service for Pollitt is scheduled for Monday, June 22.
